William D. Skuster

William is a seasoned business attorney with a broad and diverse legal background. He has successfully represented individuals, businesses and governmental entities in a wide variety of legal matters. His extensive legal background focuses on commercial and business litigation, corporate and real estate law.

William litigates matters in state and Federal Courts in Utah, Illinois and Iowa. He has handled business litigation cases involving contractual disputes, enforcement and defense of non-competition agreements, misappropriation of trade secrets and employment issues.

William also handles a variety of corporate matters for clients ranging from start-ups and entrepreneurial clients to established companies in the construction, manufacturing, technology, legal, healthcare, engineering, retail and insurance industries. He regularly advises clients on the proper entity formation and assists them in setting up their business, drafting an appropriate business plan and all other facets of running their organization.

Over the years, William has negotiated contracts and agreements including employment and non-compete agreements, technology and licensing agreements and asset purchase agreements. William currently serves as general counsel for a number of privately held companies, handling all aspects of their business needs, from daily business affairs to litigation issues. He previously served as assistant counsel and prosecutor for several large, suburban Chicago municipal governments, where he handled a full range of civil and criminal matters.

In addition, William represents clients in both residential and commercial real estate transactions and real property disputes. He handles acquisitions, development and sale of properties, including commercial properties, condominium developments and single family homes. He has also represents clients seeking zoning changes for their development projects. As well, he has represented numerous Homeowners’ Associations in both litigation and transactional matters.

Skuster Law also represents clients in family law matters, including divorce, paternity, guardianships and adoptions.

Although Skuster Law is based in Salt Lake City, William also practices in Chicago and surrounding Illinois, and our practice is affiliated with local Chicago area attorneys and is able to handle any matter which a client may need.

William resides in Salt Lake City with his two sons. He enjoys skiing, mountain biking and camping in the Utah Mountains as well as coaching his son’s various athletic teams.
